Much of my summer will be spent texturing and building forests. I already posted a bunch of procedural texture methods I'm looking into. There will be more texture stuff. A lot more. This is the other thing I'm playing around with. Maya paint effects.
Good fast way of getting natural looking geometry. It's a bit rubbish out of the box but with some tweaking and nice lighting I think there can be some good results. This shot is with the paint effects objects converted to poly's with the default textures. Very rough lighting setup with IBL, directional light, raytracing and final gather.
